“A Girl in the Valley” from The Secret Garden
I love Lucy Simon’s haunting, if occasionally overwrought and blunt, score. I imagine there will be sort of effective/deconstructionist revival of this in NYC soon enough.
I also want to state that this may be the most expertly produced/edited cast recording of all time. I think it probably presents a dramaturgically stronger show than what makes it into the theater.
Also, Rebecca Luker for the win.
