I’ve been on an “I Love My Wife” kick lately. I’ve never seen a production but I understand the book is exceptionally dated (70s wife-swapping? Anyone?), but the score (Cy Coleman and Michael Stewart) makes for a fun listen.
Here’s the Tony Awards performance featuring the entire cast. In the bed from left to right is Tony-winner Lenny Baker, Joanna Gleason, Ilene Graff and James Naughton, with Baker singing the title song, followed by the quartet singing “Married Couple Seeks Married Couple.”
They are immediately followed by the four person band (Ken Bichel, Michael Mark, John Miller and Joseph Saulter), who were onstage with small roles in the show and providing backup on some numbers. Here they perform the crowd-pleasing act two opener “Hey There, Good Times.”
