Miriam Shor captured the definitive take on Mary Flynn for me. She nails both the hardened exterior and the aching vulnerability in a way I’ve never seen anyone else quite accomplish. It was a dazzling, devastating performance.
I long for her to play Dot in Sunday in the Park With George, The Baker’s Wife in Into The Woods, Charlotte in A Little Night Music, and (one day) Joanne in Company.
Miriam Shor FTW.
Also, a friend of mine saw this production and brought me back a poster which in hung in my dorm room.
I had long-ish shaggy hair at the time, so everyone assumed I was the one in the titular jacket.
“Our Time" from Merrily We Roll Along (current West End Revival)
music/lyric Stephen Sondheim book George Furth
performance Mark Umbers, Damian Humbley, Jenna Russell
A bit of a cheat to end my tour the West End recordings of Broadway hits—but I presume a welcome one. Judging from the audience recording (and the word of Kevin) this is an EXCELLENT production of Merrily. And the last scene really is perfect.
